Group Philosophy, Group Mission and Group Vision | Our Initiative

Responding to healthcare needs by exerting the Group’s comprehensive strengths
The companies that comprise the Alfresa Group in various regions have a strong operating base over many years of operation. Furthermore, by sharing such functions as logistics and customer support without losing any of their own inherent advantages, including their corporate culture and regional characteristics, and fully utilizing Group strengths, they are enhancing their respective value.
The Alfresa Group will respond to growing healthcare needs based on the Group’s comprehensive strengths.
Exerting comprehensive strengths to meet customer needs
The Alfresa Group handles a wide range of products including pharmaceuticals as well as diagnostic reagents and medical devices, meeting varied customer needs with a full product lineup. We are proactively promoting business and capital alliances with companies that have advantages in each region to expand our sales network. Moreover, we are exerting the Group’s comprehensive strengths and pursuing synergies through measures such as joint purchasing and joint sales promotions with Group companies.
Establishment of the wholesaling business for self-medication products
We respond to a wide range of healthcare needs by providing over-the-counter drugs, private brand products, and health foods in the field of self-care (narrowly-defined self-medication), self-check, self-prevention and wellness.
An advanced distribution structure to ensure optimal delivery systems
We pursue an efficient delivery system such as sorting product shipments by individual customer at large-scale distribution centers, mostly located in suburban areas. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical centers attached to branch offices in metropolitan areas are able to quickly respond to urgent delivery needs because an abundant inventory of products is maintained close to customers.
This structure ensures delivery systems that reflect regional circumstances.
Providing quality customer support functions
We contribute to the proper use of pharmaceuticals by providing customers with specialized information. We also develop relationships of trust with customers by providing consultation in medical business management and through quality customer support functions that streamline inventory management and ordering operations.
Contributing to society through the research, development, manufacture and sales of distinctive products
We manufacture, sell, and import and export products in such fields as pharmaceuticals, diagnostic reagents and medical devices.
In pharmaceuticals, we develop products centering on central nervous system and dermatology fields. In diagnostic reagents, we are focusing on Point-Of-Care-Testing (POCT) reagents (rapid diagnostic reagents) and fecal occult blood test agents. With medical devices, we sell surgical sutures, various types of nebulizers and other products in Japan, and operate a suture manufacturing facility at Qingdao in China. Also, with regard to diagnostic reagents and medical devices, we intend to further promote sales in overseas markets such as Asia and Europe.
In these ways, we are contributing to people’s health from the comprehensive perspectives of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Themes and Targets in the Medium-term Management Plan
The Alfresa Group has formulated “07-09 Medium-term Management Plan - Advancement and Expansion.” As themes of the plan, we aim to “expand the wholesaling business of pharmaceuticals, etc. and pursue group synergy effects,” “solidify the business base of the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, etc.,” “realize Healthcare Consortium” and “enhance the group management base and strengthen the administration system.” In addition, We has established Group-wide targets for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010, the plan’s final year, including an ROE, ROA, and equity ratio of 9%, 2% and 23% or more, respectively. By achieving these targets, we will establish a stronger management foundation.

“Healthcare Consortium” Vision

Being a “Healthcare Consortium” means that the Alfresa Group will strive to establish a system that can contribute to people’s lives and health by forming alliances not only with alliance companies but also with other firms in the healthcare business to offer comprehensive medical care and healthcare information, products and services.
