The Alfresa Group's Human Right Policy

The Alfresa Group is dedicated to the realization of "a society in which everyone can live in good health". With our belief that respect for human rights is a fundamental requirement of a society in which everyone can live in good health, we have established the Alfresa Group Human Rights Policy based on the Alfresa Group’s Principles and the Alfresa Group’s Basic Sustainability Policy.
The Alfresa Group is committed to respecting the human rights of all people affected by our business activities. In the event that any adverse impact on human rights occurs resulting from our business activities, we will take appropriate corrective actions to remediate the situation. We will also endeavor to ensure that our relationships with our business partners and other stakeholders do not contribute to adverse impacts on human rights.

1. Scope

This policy applies to all directors and employees of the Alfresa Group, including full time, contract, part-time, and temporary employees. We also expect our business partners and other stakeholders to understand and comply with the principles to respect human rights in line with this policy, and we will work together with our stakeholders to promote respect for human rights.

2. Respect for International Norms

We uphold the International Bill of Human Rights, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as the ILO (International Labor Organization) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. In cases where there is a conflict between internationally recognized human rights and the laws and regulations of the country or region in which we operate, we will strive to seek ways to respect internationally recognized human rights principles while complying with the laws and regulations of the country or region in question.

3. Our Governance

The Board of Directors of Alfresa Holdings Corporation will be responsible for overseeing the Alfresa Group's compliance with this policy and the Group’s human rights efforts.

4. Human Rights Due Diligence

We will conduct human rights due diligence in order to identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse impacts on human rights related to our business activities.

5. Human Rights Issues Related to Our Business

Discrimination

We do not engage in any form of discrimination based on factors such as sex, age, disability status, health status, ideology, faith, sexual orientation or gender identity, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, social status, family origin, occupation, or employment status.

Harassment

We do not engage in harassment (or any language or conduct that could be perceived as harassment by others) and will strive to maintain an inclusive, harassment-free work environment.

Working Hours and Wages

We manage the working hours, holidays, vacations, and wages of our employees appropriately in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.

Freedom of Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining

We respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.

Forced Labor and Child Labor

We do not tolerate nor engage in forced labor or child labor.

Workplace Health and Safety

We maintain a safe, secure work environment, prevent workplace accidents, and create engaging and fulfilling workplaces

Privacy

We recognize that protecting personal information is an important social responsibility and strive to protect personal information accordingly.

Access to Healthcare

We strive to provide a stable supply of pharmaceuticals and other products, and will contribute to maintaining and improving access to healthcare.

6. Engagement with Stakeholders

We strive to engage in dialogue with relevant stakeholders in order to identify and respond appropriately to human rights related impacts.

7. Grievance Mechanisms

In order to respond appropriately and effectively to the human rights impacts of our business activities, we will establish and continuously improve our remediation procedures, including related reporting systems.

8. Remediation

If it becomes apparent that our business activities are causing or contributing to adverse impacts on human rights, we will strive to implement appropriate remediation measures.

9. Education and Awareness

We will conduct ongoing education and awareness-raising to ensure that all directors and employees understand this policy and act in line with our human rights commitment.

10. Reporting on Our Human Rights Efforts

We will report on our human rights efforts based on this policy on a regular basis via our website and various reports.
